It’s been a busy start to the year here at ezyVet! From sleek UI tweaks to new integrations and everything in between, we’ve rolled out a bunch of snazzy new features to elevate your experience and hopefully make your life that little bit easier.

Here’s a quick roundup of some of the top features we rolled out over in the first quarter of 2024.

1. We launched a new payment integration with CareCredit

One of our biggest milestones this quarter was the delivery of our CareCredit, a healthcare credit card that pet owners can use at locations in the CareCredit network to pay for veterinary services.

With this integration, you can now look up clients' CareCredit accounts and process CareCredit transactions inside ezyVet, eliminating the risk of human error and enhancing the overall experience. No more navigating to a separate web browser to access your CareCredit account!

2. We simplified inventory management with ezyVet Scan


Staying on top of inventory can be tricky. To make life easier, in Q1 we released ezyVet Scan, a new FREE app designed to manage your ezyVet inventory directly from your mobile device!

ezyVet Scan, used in conjunction with Inventory Count (more on that below!), can drastically transform your inventory processes. Here’s how:

  • Scan barcodes: You can scan barcodes with just a few taps, eliminating errors and saving time.
  • Assign, update, and count products: Keep a tight grip on your inventory levels effortlessly. Whether you're assigning, updating, or counting products, ezyVet Scan streamlines the process, ensuring you're always well-stocked and in control.
  • Real-time updates to ezyVet: Enjoy seamless synchronization of inventory data between ezyVet Scan and ezyVet. With real-time updates, you know your inventory information is always accurate and up to date.

3. Advanced inventory control with Inventory Count

Efficient inventory management is crucial for every practice. This quarter, we delivered Inventory Count, a new tool designed to simplify your inventory management processes and help you easily maintain accurate inventory information.

    • Seamless integration with ezyVet Scan: Utilize ezyVet Scan for convenient counting of product quantities.

    • Approval process: Approve inventory counts within ezyVet to update product quantities accurately.

3. A fresh perspective: Revamping ezyVet's look and feel

In Q1, we overhauled our UI with the aim of modernizing how our software looks while retaining the same core ezyVet experience you know and love.

Here’s a quick summary of what changed:

  • Streamlined navigation: Utilize keyboard shortcuts to fly through ezyVet.
  • Memo preview refreshed: Preview your memos for quick insights directly from the memo icon.
  • Personalized profiles: Customize your profile with an image or initials.
  • One-click clock-in, clock-out: Enjoy a smoother experience with our fresh one-click process.
  • Default full-screen view: Say goodbye to the black sidebar by default and hello to a more expansive workspace.
  • New floating footer: Easily create a support ticket and reach remote support.
  • Department/Inventory location popup: Less keystrokes, more efficiency.

4. We elevated the Memo experience

We overhauled the Memo experience, taking it to the next level! Our main aim? Simplifying the process so you can easily access crucial information.

Here's what's new:

  • Search functionality: You can now search a memo by keyword, sender, date, and status.
  • Flagged memos: Flag any memo so you can quickly come back to it later.
  • Message preview: Get a quick look at a memo for instant insights without opening.
  • Visual icons: Easily see which memos are marked as urgent and/or have attachments.

Upcoming Features

As you can see, it’s been a busy quarter here at ezyVet! But that’s nothing compared to what’s coming. Here’s a sneak peek at just some of the exciting things we’ve got in the pipeline - stay tuned!

1. Vello

The cat’s out of the bag, which means we can finally talk about it - Vello is coming!

Vello is IDEXX’s brand new client platform. It streamlines how you engage with pet owners, pulling everything your practice needs to connect with clients into one, easy-to-use system built for ezyVet.

With seamless communication tools synced to ezyVet, you can foster stronger client relationships, save time and create better outcomes for pets. 

  • For when a phone call could have been a text - Connect with clients where they’re most likely to respond: text. Automatically synced 2-way SMS with no character count limits allows you to quickly connect with clients, provide detailed responses, and keep a record of the communication with no extra effort.
  • Eliminate barriers for clients. Free up time for you - Vello helps your clients find answers, schedule appointments, and stay up to date on the health of their pets without having to call the practice.
  • Help appointments run smoothly - before they start - Set every visit up for success with pre-appointment instructions, including fecal or urine sample needs, drop-off and pick-up times, and recommended bloodwork.

2. Enhanced Estimates

We’re also working on building out a more robust estimate experience that reduces effort and aligns with our best practice workflow.

Key areas we’re focused on:

  • Adding bundles to estimates: We want you to use bundles cohesively across all workflows. We’re starting with integrating bundles into estimates, which will reduce duplicate configuration during onboarding, and maintenance costs of keeping bundles and sales templates in sync.
  • Automated, intuitive statuses: You’ll no longer need to manually update your estimate status. Estimates will flow naturally between statuses, and where possible, will be automatically updated. For example, when a client signs an estimate via a remote signature, the estimate will instantly update to reflect the new status.
  • New modern estimate screen: To enable bundles to be added to estimates, we need to revamp our new estimate screen. Our new version will be modern, easy to read, and meets best practice design patterns.

What’s next? Keep your eyes out for feedback opportunities as the Product & Design team start exploring how we can transfer estimates to the clinical record – something we are really excited about!

3. Better Controlled Drug Reporting

We recognize that ensuring compliance while minimizing administrative burdens is crucial for our US customers when reporting controlled drugs. Our aim is to streamline this process, saving you valuable time and ensuring adherence to CURES regulations.

Key objectives:

  • Automating Controlled Drug reporting: Our goal is to automate the reporting of controlled drugs, alleviating the administrative burden and ensuring seamless compliance with CURES requirements.
  • Delivering state-compliant ASAP reporting versions: Recognizing the importance of state-specific regulations, we're committed to delivering four new versions of ASAP reports. Each version will be tailored to meet the specific requirements of individual states, ensuring full compliance.
  • Generating Controlled Drug report in DAT format: We're introducing the capability to generate the Control Drug Report in DAT format, facilitating direct upload to the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) portal. This integration aims to simplify the reporting process and enhance efficiency.
  • Adding new data capture fields: We're adding new data capture fields within the relevant sections of ezyVet to enhance the Controlled Drug Reporting process.

    • DVM DEA Suffix
    • Contact driver license number, state and expiry
    • Unique prescription serial number
