IDEXX Reference Laboratories - VetConnect PLUS

The IDEXX VetConnect PLUS - Reference integration gives your practice access to IDEXX reference laboratory diagnostic tests directly within ezyVet, creating the ultimate go-to diagnostic experience.

Step One:

Getting the correct credentials to configure the IDEXX VetConnect PLUS - Reference integration

First, let's check out the key information your practice will need to configure the IDEXX VetConnect PLUS - Reference integration.

Before you can start using the IDEXX VetConnect PLUS - Reference integration within your ezyVet site, you will need the following:

  • You will need to create a dedicated supplier contact record for the IDEXX VetConnect PLUS - Reference integration.
    • Supplier contact: details in FAQs
  • Optional: Call IDEXX support to configure a VetConnect PLUS account.
  • Before you are able to configure the IDEXX VetConnect PLUS - Reference integration you will need to know the username and password of your VetConnect PLUS account. This information can be found in the IDEXX Vet Connect PLUS portal, however, if you cannot find your LIMS ID, get in touch with IDEXX Support.
  • For any multi-site / multi-department practice you will also need to get your LIMS ID from IDEXX Support.

Helpful hint: If you're upgrading both your IDEXX IVLS & Reference Laboratories integrations, you'll use the same credentials for both integrations

Step Two:

Configure your IDEXX VetConnect PLUS - Reference integration

Next, we're diving into how to configure the IDEXX VetConnect PLUS - Reference integration within your ezyVet site:

  1. Head to the ADMIN tab in the top navigation bar.
  2. In the settings list, select Integration.
  3. In the Integration box, select IDEXX VetConnect PLUS – Reference.
  4. If your site uses a department configuration, select the applicable department in the For Division box.
  5. In the Supplier field, add your newly created IDEXX VetConnect PLUS - Reference supplier, created in step one.
  6. If you are a multi-site / multi-department you will see a box called IDEXX VetConnect PLUS LIMS Identifier. Please enter the LIMS ID gathered from step one.
  7. In the VC Plus Online Username & Password (Requests) fields, fill in the username and password credentials gathered in step one.
  8. In the VC Plus API Username & Password (Results) fields, use the same username and password used in the above step.
  9. Select Save.
  10. Once you have selected Save, two additional setting sections will appear under Other Settings.
    1. In the Product Group dropdown, select the product group relevant for products created and/or updated by the integration.
    2. In the Prefix for Codes text field, enter the prefix that ezyVet automatically puts before all diagnostic tests and product codes of the diagnostics supplier.
    3. In the Product markup % text field, enter the initial markup percentage that ezyVet sets for all diagnostic tests of the diagnostics supplier.
  11. In the Auto-update settings section leave these set to NO for all settings. Click here and refer to point 4 within the help documentation to learn more
  12. Select Save.
  13. Finally, select VALIDATE ACCOUNT.

Step Three:

Reach out to Support to migrate your diagnostic products

If you are transitioning from the IDEXX Reference US integration to the IDEXX VetConnect PLUS – Reference integration:

  • Contact ezyVet's Support Specialists to bulk migrate the diagnostics tests, products, breed, and species mapping from the IDEXX Reference US to the IDEXX VetConnect PLUS – Reference integration.
    Our Support Specialists will aim to complete these tasks and respond back through email within 12 hours.
  • Once ezyVet's support has confirmed the migration, on the IDEXX VetConnect PLUS – Reference integration select SUBSCRIBE.


If you are not using the IDEXX Reference US integration:

  • Contact ezyVet's Support Specialists to update the supplied diagnostics list for the IDEXX VetConnect PLUS – Reference integration, or wait overnight and the system will do this for you automatically.
    Our Support Specialists will aim to complete these tasks and respond back through email within 12 hours.
  • Restore the Supplied Diagnostic Tests you want to be able to request from IDEXX Reference Laboratories and ensure your products are linked correctly.
  • On the IDEXX VetConnect PLUS – Reference integration select SUBSCRIBE.

Step Four:

Send a test diagnostic request to IDEXX Reference Laboratories

Next, it's time to send a test diagnostic request using the new integration and products.

While raising a diagnostic request still follows the same process, you will notice a new pop-up: When you select ADD, ezyVet will show the finalized request in an IDEXX VetConnect PLUS - Reference window.

Select ORDER to submit the order with IDEXX Reference Laboratories.

Step Five:

Time to tidy up

You're just about done. The integration and products are all configured, the last step is to complete a little housekeeping.

  • Navigate back to the newly created IDEXX VetConnect PLUS - Reference integration and configure the Auto-update settings.
  • If you are using the IDEXX Reference US integration:
    • Disable your existing IDEXX Reference Laboratories integrations.
      • Go to the old integration (Admin > Integration > Idexx IVLS).
      • Select the disable button in the top right hand corner.
    • Merge the supplier contact record with the new supplier contact record that you configured in step one.
